Rough Science
6-season series (2000-2005)
Rough Science was a documentary reality television series co-produced by the BBC and WETA in collaboration with the Open University. Broadcast in prime time on BBC Two and on PBS, it is considered something of a "break-out hit" for the Open University.[1]The series' formula consisted of a group of scientists with specialties in different fields who are given a task that they must complete using the natural resources of the surrounding area together with a small set of supplies. Each program followed the scientists as they use their knowledge and ingenuity in attempting to fulfil it and, in the process, educate the viewing public – despite failure being common.
